Cannot access my Minecraft purchases after changing email address

Hi everyone,

I had to rename (change the email address) for my Microsoft account, as we were migrating our email on a personal domain over to Office 365 from Google, so my Microsoft account using that address was causing a conflict.

Originally, *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** was a google account (for email).

*** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** was also a Microsoft account. Minecraft was purchased with this account.

We changed the email address in the *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. *** Microsoft account to a gmail.com account address.

When we run the Minecraft launcher, using the new Microsoft account (with the gmail.com domain), it shows the correct Microsoft account in the launcher (with the original gaming username. So it does appear that some information transferred when the MS account was renamed.

However, all of my Minecraft purchases are missing. I normally use the Java edition, but I also purchased the Windows edition.

In the Java edition Instead of having a "play" option, it said "Play Demo", as if we don't own the game.

The Windows edition says "Buy Now" as well - no "play" option.

When we "manage account", under payment and billing, purchases, we can find the original purchase, but the Minecraft launcher does not think we own it.

We also see this error at the bottom of the launcher (this has been going on for weeks now, not just a one-time issue):

(!) Oh no! Something went wrong, and we couldn't connect to the Minecraft services. Try again.

So, we're wondering if something in Minecraft is still looking for the MS account with the old email address, instead of the new one.

How do we get access to our old Minecraft purchases (and content)?

You must check first that the account you are using has those purchases on the order history, when you change the email the order history remains the same

About the Java account, you have migrated your Mojang account to the Microsoft account?

Dear Francia,

Thanks for stepping in.

The game is Minecraft for Windows 10 Starter Collection. The game is owned by my son.

However, it seems we need to purchase it again. The primary email address of the Microsoft Account was changed. There was an issue with the access and family settings earlier. That was solved.

Now the only issue after the transition is that the ownership of the game was changed.

yes i changed it after i participated in the promotion and i cannot access that email address at all. the one i changed it to would be the one i could receive things at if possible

Not sure of your issue. You are logging into your account after changing the email address but you can't access your purchased content?

you cannot change the email address you used to migrate your Mojang account.

If the Minecraft license is linked to that account, there is no problem by changing your alias/name address, because is already linked
