    Cannot access data saved on Hard drive


    Well, My hard drive crashed and my system rebooted. When my 360 booted back up all of my profiles and saved games were gone but the drive still shows that there is data saved on it. I have one of the original 360's and have everything stored on my Hard drive.
    One of my profiles is on Live and I can re-download it but all of my saves are still inaccessible. I've been having issues with my saves and profile being corrupted lately and was about to transfer everything to my USB stick when my hard drive crashed.

    Everything had been working just fine. I deleted a couple corrupted saves, and rebooted my 360. When it booted back up, I went to System/Storage. When I clicked on storage everything froze. after about 3 minutes it said my hard drive was corrupted and needed
    to reinstall some system files and it shut down. I turned it back on and got a red ring. I turned it off and back on again and it booted just fine but all of the profiles and game data were gone.

    If I try to transfer the data off of my HDD onto a USB it says that there is 10.2 GB of data saved on it. When I try to move it to the USB there is nothing available to move. If I go into the hard drives storage it shows no profiles of game saves.

    I've tried removing the hard drive and plugging it back in, didn't help

    I re-downloaded my profile from xbox live but none of my game files came back (and I never set up cloud storage)

    I've removed the latest updated and reinstalled it, didn't help

    Is there any way I can get the data off or preferably restore it. It looks like it is all still stored on the Hard drive, I just can't get to it. I could care less about my data but my wife's profile was local only and I would like to get her data back.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Download Profile Issues

    When you download/recover a profile on a system it does not include any saved content. You would have to access the saved content where you saved it to originally which would either be your hard drive or the Cloud. If it is the cloud you can access your
    saved data and play it from there.

    You can transfer saved data from your hard drive through a thumb drive that has been properly formatted for your xbox.

    Usually if data is corrupt it cannot be retrieved. You could look around the saved game folder on the hard drive to see if it is still there, which could tell if it is corrupt, or completely gone off the hard drive.

    Your HDD is beyond repair so all you can do is try to recover the stored data if that is possible. There are different companies online that offer solutions for recovering lost data at a price.

    This is pretty much what I figured. I gave my HDD to a friend to see what he could pull off of it but I am not getting my hopes up.

    Your HDD is beyond repair so all you can do is try to recover the stored data if that is possible. There are different companies online that offer solutions for recovering lost data at a price.

    Matt is 100% correct - you will not lose your saves because they are stored in the cloud for backup and easy access wherever you log in. Removing the game will remove ALL of the data, including all updates, and all hard drive-stored game saves. That sounds
    confusing, but the game save data actually saves to the system files on your hard drive, as WELL as to the cloud. So, uninstalling removes them from your hard drive, but not the cloud.
