Cancelling update completely uninstalls game

The xbox one has been out for over FOUR years now, and for some bizarre reason, cancelling a game update completely uninstalls that particular game. Forgive me if this isn't even possible, but can't they make the xbox create a temporary copy of the game
files before updating, so the game doesn't need to be reinstalled? Here in third world Australia, I seriously cannot waste my data redownloading an entire game just because of this, never mind that it takes literal days to download most games. Really, really
annoyed by the xbox one's OS.

Cancelling update uninstalls whole game from console

My Fifa 18 update was stuck at 66% for 10 minutes so I cancelled the download so I could open Fifa 18 and re-initiate the update, however, cancelling the update caused my whole game to be uninstalled! I've lost all of my save games and Journey mode progress
and everything. The career mode saves I'm not really concerned about as I was only a few weeks into them but I was about 80%+ through the journey and now I will have to go through everything again just to see how it ends.

This needs to be fixed ASAP to avoid this happening to anyone else as this has really disappointed me and slightly pushed me towards purchasing and switching to another console.

I did pause a couple of times and went well.

Just did cancel on demos that I saw were too big to waste bandwidth on - so install rather than update, so not the same thing.

If you need to spread download a bit, like I often have to, have automatically keep games&apps turned off.

And do pause if you started something that you don't want to fulfill right now.

And you should be able to spread updates a bit over months.

Some games are really hiddeous size of updates.

And that some games also require to be online - and you cannot wait with updates either - once there is an update you cannot play game until you did it.

MS should state some rules on this to devs I think.

Like, what happends when publisher withdraw servers for that game?

I agree with Obsessive Power that a warning would go a long way to a better experience. In my book good communication is the pinnacle of customer satisfaction.

I just had an issue where I had 14 updates/installs queued up and for whatever reason Recore would update at about .01 GB every few seconds. In the last 3 days it managed to update maybe .5 GB out of 6 GB necessary but I was able to get 11 of the 14 installs
to complete with no problems. Over 100GBs of updates so 6 more should have been no problem. Just a weird glitch for that update. Well I just cancelled the updates and now Recore and the other game awaiting an update, Quantum Break, are both gone. Apparently
they are uninstalled.

This doesn't happen on my other consoles or my computer games. There must be a better way to handle faulty updates than deleting games and it could be more respectful of customers' time and bandwidth. Getting to this board to post was in itself a labrynthine
process navigating virtual agents and posts that don't match my issue.

I'm sorry for the vent but I feel that this is a big oversight that needs to be addressed plus I'm not looking forward to re-downloading Quantum Break again. Please let the correct team know that I too ran across this issue.

It's not a common issue but it does happen so the best thing to do would be to backup the data and content to avoid interruptions. We also noticed that with newer games what happens is that when the patches get released they are patches for the entire
game so they get uninstalled and reinstalled with the new patch already installed to prevent any sort of corruption. This is by design per the developers. Hope this helps!
