    Cancelling game update deletes the game?


    As many in the world I have a monthly data transfer cap. My XB 1X just showed a 1GB update for Forza Horizon 4. It was downloading at Kbps

    on a 100Mb connection. Said 8 hours remaining. I decided to cancel the update. Now my system shows no update and wants me reinstall the entire game?? I found on reddit people complaining about this. Some said you should get a popup that warns you the game
    will be deleted. That would have been nice. I'm looking for confirmation that there is no work around. And I have no choice. But to download 100GB all over again?

    Unfortunately, yes, you will have to redownload the game again. The work around would be to pause the update instead of cancel it.

    Hello Grunt,

    Reason for the game being deleted if an update is cancelled. Games always need updates and today the updates are more and more. If one starts that means it is writing data in the game, once it is cancelled the game is deleted so the game don't become corrupt.
    This was found out by a lot of research that most corrupt games were due to cancelling of an update then restarting the update at a later time. So now it uninstalls the game to protect it from being corrupt.

    Game self-deleted

    It sounds like the update was cancelled somehow. If an update is cancelled it will delete the entire game as well.

    The saves would be fine since those are separate from the game data.
