Cancelling auto-renew cancelled my subscription after i'd payed for it

I've been paying for xbox live monthly with paypal. last week i turned off my auto renewal a few days after paying for the month so i could take a break once that month had expired and my gold subscription just got cancelled! I've payed for the month but
can't get hold of anyone to sort out the problem. None of the links on the contact us page are working (not just on one device). Please help!

How much have you spent on Xbox Live?

Ive only ever bought a 1 year subscription twice, but i have "earned" subscriptions multiple times through various promotions at work. Unfortunately, i also accidentally left my auto renew on and was billed monthly for about 5 months. Should have called and tried to get it converted to a year but i didnt think about it till after i had cancelled

How do I cancel a xBox Gold Live 12 month membership that is due to be auto-renewed

I'm trying to cancel the auto-renew for my Sons xBox Live gold 12 month subscription.

I received an email reminding me that my Sons subscription is up for auto-renew on 1st November. There was a link in the email to cancel which I followed and it sent me to services and subscription section of the account. I can't see any way of cancelling
it or checking if it has been cancelled.

On my end, I see your account as Gold. Are you sure it was removed and cancelled?

According to my 360 its cancelled. When i logged in it gave me the option to pay to renew or revert to free. I clicked renew to see see the options but wouldn't let me do anything without paying or entering a code so i had to revert to silver to get on my
profile without paying more. For some reason when i turned off auto-renewal it cancelled my subscription.

your account does show as silver/free at this moment, it was likely a caching issue why xTye saw it on the forums when it showed as gold instead of silver

The best thing to do is to contact Xbox Support, please try this link it should show the Phone number for the country your account is connected to:

Yeah it reverted after my post. I'd contact Xbox Support on the matter and get it resolved.

I had a previous subscription that ended on 15 Oct. I didn't cancel auto-renew.

The subscription continued for 7 days after renewal date.

When I renewed on 1 Nov, those 7 days are taken back, hence my current subscription is 7 days short.

Lesson; Cancel auto-renew.

You cancelled the subscription or turned off auto renew? If you cancel a subscription, it immediately cancels it, and takes away game pass. If you turn off auto renew, then that cancels the next payment, and you still have access until the end of the subscription.

Thanks for the answer. Sadly that did not work for me. I canceled the auto renew before the money was charged. After that I wanted to cancel the subscription itself aswell, that did not work. It said something like "You cannot cancel the subscription because
you have already paid". This would make no sense to me since I didn't pay yet, nor was the auto renewal activated at that time. So it charged the money without me wanting that anyways.

Because if you pay, it will restart your subscription and then you will be charged unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel before then.

I'm not cancelling my service, not yet, just the auto renew feature, since my actual service doesn't expire until next year. I guarantee you Microsoft will be paying attention if millions of people turn off their auto subscription renew.
