    Cancelling a Update Uninstalls the entire game.


    Came home from work today to play some of the new Modern Warfare to see a 2.5gb update. Not a big deal. Start the update to see it keeps stopping and starting, eventually becoming completely stuck. Thinking it had glitched I decided to stop the update as
    I knew my internet speed was working fine as I performed a speed test.

    Without any warning of the consequences. Xbox proceed to uninstall the entire 80gb game from my hard-drive. I've spoken to an Xbox expert who said the same thing happened to his friend. I'm just posting this to see who else has had this problem and I know
    Xbox are aware of the problem, but have no knowledge if they even intend to ever fix said problem.

    For someone with slower internet than mine this could be horrible. The download will still take me over 4 hours but for some of my friends this would set them back days. I've had bad experiences with network and internet providers but at least they offer
    some sort of compensation when they screw up on this level.

    Hello xxydot,

    Thanks for coming to the forums. Microsoft/Xbox had put this in place a while ago where if an update was cancelled or stopped for a period of time It uninstalls the entire game. The reason for this, is they found that a lot of the calls support was getting
    before this was due to updates corrupting games due to being cancelled and started again. This way there is less chance for the game to become corrupt which could affect all aspects of the Xbox console.

    Ah my son feels your pain. Twice this has happened with RDR2 which is huge. But it is working as intended.

    I agree that this can be annoying, sometimes I accidentally start a game update and I'll have to wait for it to complete because if I cancel, it uninstall the whole game, which is a bummer.
