Cancelling a past due renewal

I've run into trouble with my xbox live account. Recently I logged on and wasn't able to connect to xbox live because apparently my payment was past due. I remember going through the process to stop auto-renewal a couple of years ago but apparently it was
turned back on or something and because I didn't use my xbox for a couple of month I was never notified that my subscription status was nearly up. I just want to downgrade to the silver membership so that I can continue to use my xbox for netflix as I'm not
really interested in playing online games right now but apparently they've already charged me for the current year (although my credit card expired).

I'm wondering if there's anything that I can do to downgrade my membership to silver because I don't have the money to pay for another year membership at the time being. Do I just need to create a new account and leave my current one until/if I can renew
it?

Cancelling a past due subscription

you must pay the past due balance in order to cancel.and cancellation depends on what type of account if month to month there is no refunds

However should be noted in suspension your are 20days into the past due amount

This has to be taken up with support

Chat or phone

If they already said no then you have to pay the past due balance to gain access to your account again

Cancelling a past due subscription

when I tried to pay for my subscriptions I noticed I was low on money. I tried to pay for my xbox gold subscription. But I also have ea access but I do not want to pay for it. Is there a way to pay for gold and not ea access? Both of these are past due...

For billing issues you will need to contact supprt directly. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or
support.xbox.com/contact-us

Any time you purchase gold from Xbox it will turn on auto-renewal even if you turned it off in the past. Since your card is expired, you would have a balance you owe on this account.If you don't pay the blance, your account will be suspended until it is
paid (you can play offline though).

If it is past due, you will have to settle that payment first before you can cancel auto renew.

Is it expired or is it past due?

If it is past due you would either need to contact xbox support at support.xbox.com/contact-us to see if they can cancel it or pay the past due and turn off the auto renew so that it does not charge you again next month.

Seems like you don't have a past due balance and since you have switched off the auto-renewal your subscription will be automatically canceled by November. Once you turn on the auto-renewal it will just renew.

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. In regards to this issue, if the subscription is past due and is not allowing you to cancel it, technically speaking the subscription is cancelled. Whenever you have a past due balance it will not allow you to cancel
the subscription until the past due balance has been paid for. Once it has been paid for the subscription will renew and then you will have the ability to cancel or turn off auto renew once again.
