Cancelled installation taking up disk space - cannot reinstall or delete files?

Hi all,

Yesterday, I tried to download The Outer Wilds, and my connection was bad, so I cancelled the download.

Today, I tried again, except I don't have enough disk space anymore, because the Outer Wilds files are somehow still on my ssd, despite me cancelling the installation. I now have no way of deleting those temporary files because it's not listed as installed
in the app, and I can't delete the files manually because of the encryption Game Pass has on game files.

How do I reclaim the 30gb that I just lost?

I have the exact same problem, I spent 2 hours in tech support help and NOTHING worked. Its so frustrating.

There are some features in Settings > System > Storage to clean up orphaned files and saves.

This page has details on un-hiding items in your My Games & Apps, if it's hidden.

The issue here is that I have already reinstalled Windows 10 and chose to keep my files and so the xbox games I have downloaded are no longer accessible but are still taking up space on the disk. I can't delete them from the xbox app as they do not show up and I have found they are located in the folder D:\WindowsApps\MSIXVC in a file. I'm not sure if I can delete that file and what would happen if I did. Also I cannot setup the harddrive to install games as it shows an error when doing so.

I understand your problem. Sometimes when you cancel a download, temporary files may continue to take up space on your hard drive.

Disk Cleanup: Click Start, type “disk” in the search box, and select Disk Cleanup for (C

. In Disk Cleanup, select the disk you want to clean. Next, the space that you can free up on the C: drive will be calculated. And then choose to delete the files you don't need

Delete files manually: Select Start > Settings > Cleanup recommendations > storage > system

Disk Cleanup in Windows: Under Disk Cleanup, select Clean up system files. Select the file types you want to get rid of. To get a description of some type of file, select it. Select Accept

Hi I, unfortunately, canceled the fh4 installation by mistake there was 5GB left and the Microsoft store is reinstalling it and won't let me continue the 5GB remaining it's reinstalling the game for the beginning.

This is normal. If you cancelled the download then it cancels the entire download and would have deleted what was already downloaded to free up space when it got canceled.
