    My sons Xbox Gold Live had run out so we purchased a pre-paid voucher to redeem a code for 1 year which we did and it went through. All was working ok on Friday.

    Over the weekend with friends over he asked to get Xbox Game Pass ultimate for a month which I agreed to and it went through on the Xbox. This was working for him. I understood this to be a recurring amount that gets charged so on the Saturday night I stopped the recurring billing for this. Sunday he used the Xbox with no problems either.

    Today, Monday he has told me he can't play the Xbox online with friends because he has no Xbox Gold Live. Checking my account it says under cancelled subscriptions that it has been upgraded to Xbox Game pass ultimate.

    Why if its been upgraded is it not working now. I have attached a screenshot below showing that this new subscription is valid till Dec, 2022..

    What is going wrong here. Why can't he play online? I cannot find any way to contact Microsoft to sort out this account problem

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you canceled Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and now your son is unable to use Xbox Live Gold.

    Xbox Game Pass Ultimate     is three different subscriptions in one. It includes Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. If you cancel Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you lose access to all three of these subscriptions. That is why your son is unable
    to use Xbox Live Gold features.

    Generally, users will upgrade their Xbox Live Gold subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This will convert your Xbox Live Gold time to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate time. If you cancel Xbox Game Pass Ultimate after upgrading, you must

    purchase an Xbox Live Gold subscription     in order to continue using online features for your console. We hope this information helps

    You would be best placed to create your own thread.

    If you are referring to losing Xbox Live Gold because you cancelled Game Pass Ultimate, there is nothing that can be done. It clearly states that Xbox Live Gold will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate days and can not be reverted and that canceling Game
    Pass Ultimate will cancel out the converted Xbox Live Gold. https://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/xbox-subscriptions/xbox-game-pass-ultimate-faq

    You can cancel your Game Pass Ultimate membership at any time, and you will
    continue to have access to your Ultimate benefits until your prepaid time ends, at which point you will not be charged again.

    Note The upgrade of any prepaid time to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cannot be reverted back to Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass, and you cannot receive a refund for Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game
    Pass. You can, however, rejoin Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass when your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription ends

    Thanks for the reply. If you outright cancel the ultimate subscription now you lose both subscriptions. When you purchase

    ultimate game pass    . The gold subscription converts to Ultimate time. Here is the

    conversion chart    . Your best bet is to turn off auto renew, wait until the Ultimate expires then purchase gold again if that is the subscription you want only.

    Buying Xbox Game Pass Ultimate automatically upgrades your existing Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass memberships to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

    You can
    cancel your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription     at any time, and you’ll continue to have access to your Ultimate benefits until your prepaid time ends, at which point you won’t be charged again.

    Note The upgrade of any prepaid time to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can’t be reverted back to Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass, and you can’t receive a refund for

    Hey there FlyJonat,

    When you update to the Game Pass any time you had on active Gold or Game Pass subscription would be cancelled and any remaining time would be converted to time for the Ultimate subscription.

    What happens to my Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass memberships once i upgrade to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

    A purchase of Game Pass Ultimate automatically upgrades your existing Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass memberships to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

    So it seems that when you cancelled your Ultimate subscription this cancelled all the time that had been added to it. I would advise that you
    Contact Xbox Support so that they may take a look at your account and provide further assistance.
