Cancel Subscription on expired card

Hello

My cards date expired and i thought i'd let my subscription to microsoft run out and end with it. But it did not.

It says on the "how to cancel" troubleshooting that it should expire on its own but alas it has not, atleast not properly. So i tried to cancel it under Services & Subscriptions > Manage > Cancel but there was no Cancel, only a Pay Now button.

I keep getting emails reminding me that the payment has not gone through and to please update the method.

So what do i do? I refuse to pay with a new card just to cancel it.

You should try updating all your information with the latest and most updated. You can go to the link below to help you out more.

You will have to login and then go to Payment options and change/edit all your card information. You will also see Subscriptions and would be able to edit them as well. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately if there's a past due it'll have to be paid or your account goes into a temporary lockdown (until it's paid).

Subscriptions do end on their own if they're not set up as "auto renewal", you can find information on how to change your payment methods here

You can try contact support and speak to billing to see if there is anything they can do, but otherwise you'd have to add a new card in order to be able to continue the subscription and then be able to cancel it. http://beta.support.xbox.com/contact-us

The link above will show you your current subscriptions with microsoft and there is a link at the top called payment options manage your payment card. once your card expires it does not cancel your xbox live. For example, my card has expired a couple of
months ago but my xbox live subscription expires in 2014.

I'm sorry about that. If it's an incoming charge and you have done the steps below to turn off the recurring billing then it should automatically expire on the expiration date.

Sign in to account.microsoft.com.

Under the section Subscriptions, select View all subscriptions, and then select Manage next to the subscription that you want to cancel.

Select Cancel subscription or Turn off recurring billing. Disabling recurring billing will grant you the benefits of your subscription for the remainder of the payment cycle without billing you again for a renewal.

Once it expires, you can just use the gift card balance to purchase a subscription.
