Your Xbox 360 will very likely only recognise the official wireless adapter or a licensed accessory equivalent and no other ones.

I do apologize but the Xbox Elite does not have built in wireless. You would need to purchase a wireless adapter in order for the Xbox to be on the wifi connection. If you have a wireless adapter and are unable to connect please review the link I have provided

Are you using wireless of wired connection? If you're using wireless with the the old version of the xbox 360(the one that doesn't come with a built in wireless adapter) try unplugging the adapter, turning off the xbox, plugging the adapter back in, then
turning on the xbox. If that does not work try connecting your sons xbox directly to the modem using an ethernet cable and see if you can connect.

Since the device is Xbox 360 S, it has a built in Wifi and it should connect automatically if you have wireless network and nothing should be done in your end as what the previous support had told also. If it does not connect, we can use the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter and this device is separately sold by local reseller. If your wireless router is not near your console, you may get a better wireless signal by using a wireless networking adapter. When you connect an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to an Xbox 360 S console, the console automatically uses the wireless adapter instead of the built-in Wi-Fi.

Manually configuring your wireless network to your Xbox console requires expertise and it should be done by network specialists, and we believed that it was done already by your internet service provider. Incorrectly-configured wireless network settings can negatively impact your console’s performance.

I'm sorry that you're having trouble with your Xbox 360 wireless adapter. A flashing green light indicates that the adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless network. When you try to connect to your wireless network, does the console prompt you to connect
an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter, or does it recognize the adapter but display no wireless networks in the list?
