I got a universal remote and was wondering if I bought the Xbox one s will the or blaster allow me to use it so I save my batteries on my Xbox controller when all I am doing is watching a movie or listening to music

Virgin Media TiVo DVR controls

[Mod removed] The point is that you can control everything with one remote - do you call the idea of a universal remote stupid? No, because it's useful to have everything controllable from one place. Before the xbox one I needed 3 remotes
- an Xbox 360 controller for gaming; my TV's own control for switching it on and changing the volume, and my virgin media remote for watching TV. Now I only really use 2 thanks to the xbox one, but I'd like to only need to use 1.

Currently the only universal remote for the Xbox One is the official Xbox One Universal Remote. Some universal remotes may hay have the ability to use the IR blaster, but you'll need to check their support pages for steps on connecting it.

I would hope it could considering that's pretty old technology that even a cheap universal remote can handle.

the ir blaster is very nice. a decent universal remote with ir blasters are nearly $100. im not sure how much they run for voice controlled.

@Young. It's not the fact that if you can hook it up to your X1. It's the fact that the Kinect sensor is an IR blaster as well and sends out signals to your other devices, acting as a universal remote.

Ignore my last post. Turns out the media remote requires a Kinect to act like a IR blaster so controlling anything without one is impossible. If its not too late I'd return the remote and just pick yourself up a nice universal remote ( i love my Logitech
Harmony)
