It depends what constitutes older? As far as I can tell, Targeted Display was present in iMacs until 2014 when it was phased out. If it has TD, then I think the above from the Adviser works....if it is newer than that, then it isn't possible without something like a capture card to manage the signal:

No, that would not work as you cannot use the iMac itself as an external monitor. The iMacs only have external video output and no video input to use as a separate monitor.

you can buy third party and if still around microsoft adapters to use kinect with xbox one s and x. i still use mine from time to time, kids still use it.
