Can you transfer gamertags?

I had an account that I lost access to and have recently gotten back into. I really like my old Gamertag but I have spent way more time and money on my main account so I wanted to swap my gamertags instead of playing on the other one. But even though I remember this option on the 360, there was no option on my Xbox one(I could just be remembering wrong though). So is there any other way I could confirm that I own both accounts and swap the gamertags?

you would need to pay to change the tag on the old one, then wait a few hours and pay on your newest account and change the name on that one.

there is no way to just transfer the gamertags.

Nothing can be transferred between gamertags. You can download the original gamertag and do a license transfer on the new console so both accounts can access the content.

you can use a usb drive to transfer profiles over achievements connected to live will be transfered when you recover the account you are correct talax

btw there will be online gamesave storage coming october or november we're not sure how the gamertag system will work

but you wouldn't have to recover your gamertag however its probably 1 console can only be loged in the gamertag at a time not multiple

yes you can use the transfer cable to transfer dlc however you will either have to be signed into live at all times with the purchasing gamertag or do the drm transfer takes a few mins rather then redownloading the dlc

you can transfer the dlc with the cable but to use it offline you still need to do the drm transfer after

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. I'm sorry to inform you the option to transfer saved data, achievements and any/or game purchases from another Microsoft Account will not be possible. We currently do not have an available feature. The one
step we have available is changing the primary email on the Microsoft account.
You can however set up home consoleon your main profile.
Note:If you choose to remove an alias that uses a Microsoft domain such as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com, that alias will be completely deleted and will not be available to sign in to any Microsoft
services. A microsoft and Xbox account are one and the same. As there is nothing more I will be locking this thread.

You can't transfer anything from one account to another. You can change a gamertag if you want but you can't transfer the information.
