Can you share an xbox 360 live gold subscription on an Xbox One?

My son has an Xbox 360 with a Gold Subscription I currently have a 360 with a silver subscription. I am upgrading to an Xbox one and was wondering how the Live subscriptions work. Will my son be able to use his Gold subscription on both machines. Also, will
it be possible for me to access Gold on my Xbox One without having to purchase a second subscription?

Yeah, unless something has changed recently, you get to keep your Xbox 360 gold games.

But the Xbox One gold games you need to have an active subscription.

Here it is from the official Xbox site:

What happens to my Games with Gold games if I cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription?

On Xbox One, you’ll no longer be able to access your Games with Gold titles if you cancel your subscription. However, if you decide to renew your subscription at any time, you’ll be able to access and play your previously redeemed Games with Gold titles again.

On Xbox 360, any Games with Gold titles that you redeem as an Xbox Live Gold member are yours to keep, regardless of whether you continue your subscription.Click to expand...

What if Microsoft made an Xbox handheld console during the 7th generation era...?

It would have had good exclusives at first, then they would have depended on 3rd party to carry it, just like did the 360. Based on the Microsoft of yester-generation, it would have had its own Xbox live gold subscription.

If it lasted to this generation, it would have had moved to sharing one gold sub with xbox one/360.

Not only will your son be able to use the subscription on both machines but he will be able to be logged in to both machines at the same time.

As for sharing, you can absolutely share his Gold membership on the Xbox One. Simply add his account to the console then head over to Settings and scroll all the way to the right so he can add your gamertag to his Family.

Each account on the 360 would need their own gold subscription though to play online

It's best to have each user have their own account.

On an Xbox One, you only need one account with a Live subscription. The account that has the subscription can make a console it's home console so games and the Live subscription will be shared with all users on that console. More info can be found here:

You may be signed into Live, but do you have a gold subscription on your account? Gold is required to use the cloud on the 360. While you can share your husband's gold on the One, gold is not shared on the 360.

The relationship between an Xbox Live Gold account and the Xbox One, will no longer require you to setup each account with a paid subscription, as you would have to do on the Xbox 360.
