Can you play on two consoles at the same time with one gold account?

You just will be needing to create an account for him and then you can set your account as Home Xbox on the Xbox Series X in that way all of your subscription and games will be shared.

1. Sign in to your account on the Xbox Series X.

2. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

3. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Personalization, and then select My home Xbox.

4. Check "Make this as My Home Xbox".

Unfortunately you can not share the same Xbox account on two consoles at the same time. For both of you to play on two different consoles at the same time would require two different accounts. It doesn't cost anything to create an account for Xbox Live.
However, it will cost BOTH accounts to have Gold subscriptions.

You only can sign in to one console with Gold at a time.

That is incorrect, the home console will be able to have other accounts on that console utilize gold even if the account with gold is playing from another console. However you can't have the same profile signed in at two places at one (unless it is Xbox
360 on one, and Xbox one on another).

gold covers Two console at the same time playing but you can log on and use you're gold any time you log on you're account but remember all tree can be used whit the same account at the same time this action can be put you're account band i hope this help

The Xbox One can share a gold subscription, but only on the same console. If they're playing on two different consoles with two different accounts, you would need a separate gold subscription.
