Can you play games OFFLINE on Xbox One??

I wish someone would clarify this for me...

Can you play games offline on the Xbox One?? (Not online multiplayer, of course)

I've heard 3 different answers. Confusing!

1. "No, it must be connected to Live at all times."

2. "You can play games offline, but you must connect to Live every 24 hours."

3. "You can play games whenever you want, without connecting to Live at all."

I know you need a connection for any updates, online multiplayer, and stuff..

I'm planning on buying an Xbox One anyway, but I'd like to know about everything first!

Also I need to know if you factory reset your Xbox One, do you have to download the first update all over again?

can you play offline

go to settings and network, switch to offline mode and any games that don't rely on an internet connection (i.e Destiny, PVZ Etc) should be ok to play, acheivements will not pop until you go back online.

Can you give us some more information. Please note, there are some activities that are unavailable when "Using Xbox One offline".

I can't verify the parts about needing periodic internet access but I have had to move my setup before to an area where internet was not available to me. I had no problems running the games that were on my hard drive.

To play your digital games offline, the console you wish to use them must be the home console for your account. You must set the home console while connected to Xbox LIVE. Once the 'Home' console is set, you can play all Xbox One games offline, even the
digital ones.

In regards to the original question about playing BC Xbox 360 games offline, the answer is yes. You can play Xbox 360 games offline too. How do I know? I've just tried it with the Xbox Arcade game 'Perfect Dark' and it worked fine.
