Can you partition external hd and X1 only use one of those?

The format thing - can that be directed to any of multiple partitions on external hdd?

Thinking of getting a 4T drive and use some to backup other computer devices as well.

Cheaper to get extra on one HDD than buying many smaller.

External HD with XBox 360?

I want to use an external HD with my 360. However, the 360 only supports up to 32 gig. Can I repertition the external HD into multipule 32 gigs so i wouldn't have just wasted my money? Example: I take a 1 terabyte external drive and make 31 partitions
of 32 gigs a peace? I hope this makes sense. thank you

Xbox 360 USB memory question.

As long as the Xbox recognises your external hard drive then you can use it for Xbox storage. However, regardless of it's size, you can only use 32GB of it's storage. Making new partitions won't work as the console will only see the primary partition.

Not it is not possible to do this when you first plug the external hard drive into the console it will format the drive and use all of it for games/apps if fast enough if it's not fast enough it will use it as a media drive.

So X1 does one partion of the drive, and use it all for own purposes?

It does not recognize if there are many partitions already and do it differently and make you choose one?

Formatting is usually just a second step, once partitioning is done - on a pc, I mean.

When the console offers you the chance to format it for storing games it will wipe out any existing partition already on there and use the complete drive.

Good morning everyone,

Sorry for the delay to respond but it's because the process I used to solve the problem takes a lot of processing time, so I solved the problem.

After trying all that was said above I decided to follow a clue of the @PalmettoBling on the external hd. I did a more in-depth scan and found that the two games that were reappearing had been installed on the external hd before.

Once I had problems with hds on the PC that did not release all the space, due to "filth" in the partition, to solve the problem I wipe the partition with Partition Magic.

I decided to risk doing the same with the external hd used on the Xbox, backup some games that I did not want to download again and started the process of cleaning the partition.

After more than 12 hours the cleaning was completed and when I plugged the external HD back into the Xbox the "ghosts" games were no longer there. I think it's some dirt problem on partitions.

The tip is then for those who was or will have this kind of problem in the future. Back up the games and perform a wipe partition on Partition Magic, or whatever software you find most convenient.
