Can you not play games with gold when you game share?

Just to explain it a bit better, as there are a lot of misunderstandings on how Gold sharing works:

You share your Gold membership to your "Home Console".

Everyone on that console can benefit from your Gold Membership at no additional costs. They can use Party Chat and play online Multiplayer, as long as they play on your "Home Console".

Their account is NOT a full Gold member. If they sign in on a different console, that is not the Home Console of a Gold membership owner, they are unable to play Multiplayer.

Also, even when they play on a Home Console with Gold membership, they do NOT get access to the Games with Gold or the Deals with Gold.

You just have to know, that you share your Gold and games to a CONSOLE. Not individual accounts! That console will then share your games and Gold memberships with anyone playing on that console at no additional costs for you.

When you share gold the accounts that are sharing the gold get access to online multiplayer. Only the account that purchases the gold gets access to things like gold discounts or games with gold games. However, the games with gold games can be shared once
downloaded.

The first thing you need to understand is, you don't share anything to another account.

As Honda Man 04 and Frankalore the Merciful already hinted at: You can only share Gold and Games of your account to a specific
console, not an account. The console you set as your Home Console.

When you share to a Home console, EVERYONE playing on that console can benefit from your games and your Gold membership. There is no way to prevent a specific account to NOT have Gold when playing on that Home Console.

If you don't want that, you need to remove your account's Home Console feature from that console.

However, be aware that this also prevents others from playing your games completely, and you can't play your games offline on that console.

The "Home Console" sharing shares Gold and your games with the Home Console at the same time.

There is no way to separate Gold sharing from game sharing.

However, while you are signed in on any console, that console also gets to share your Gold and games, as long as you are signed in.

So your child can play online multiplayer on the console you're currently signed in on, while someone else can also use your Gold and games on the Home Console.
