Can you merge two Gamer Tags into one?

xbox decided to setup another gamer tag for me and now when I go into my system I cannot use it and it wont accept a password change. is there a way to merge gamer tags. I do not want to lose everything for my games under my old gamertag.

Having difficulty in merging accounts.

You can switch tags but you cannot merge accounts: ie., you can't combine GS and/or achievements between any two accounts.

I have two gamer tags under two different email addresses, how do I merge the accounts and not lose any of my subscriptions?

Sorry but profiles cannot be merged. Also to note, nothing can be transferred between different profiles.

hey buddy, i dont think you can ( your asking to merge one gamer tag to the other ) which is impossible i think,

why is it you want the old one merged with the new one ? as you cant transfer content license if its for paid stuff.

The problem is this.

It is not that the outlook.com account already has a gamertag attached to it (unless you signed into an xbox console or xbox.com with it) is the only way that you would get a gamer tag attached to a MS account.

The problem is that Outlook.com is a MS account and your Gmail account is a MS account so you can not merge the two accounts this is why when you are trying to add your Outlook.com email to your Gmail MS account it is saying that it is already taken because
it is already a MS account and you can not merge the two accounts together.

hello there,

so i have two xbox accounts. one, an old account under a non-Microsoft email address. and two, an newer one with a Microsoft email address.

So as i understand it, you can't merge accounts so instead i want to bring the gamer tag i have for my old account and make it the gamer tag of my newer account.

is this possible? im happy to delete my old account but i want make sure for certain my newer gets the gamer tag and not someone else.

no this does not work the only thing you can try to do is to change your old name and try to claim it with your new account
