Yes it does. You're either not setting something up right or you're trying to control the laptop through the XB1, which makes no sense.

There is a lag with mouse controls, though, just as there's a lag when hooking up the X360 to it.

Because this isn't a pass-through HDMI port. It's app controlled, making the claim it's pass-through a lie to consumers.

You have the switch plugged into the One rather than a HDMI port on the TV? TV only have one HDMI port?

It's not unusual for smaller and/or older TVs to only have the one HDMI port. My last 2 only had 1 but I recently bought a Samsung with 3.

It's a shame that manufacturers aren't using more. There was the excuse with SCART that it was very large but HDMI uses a very small amount of the rear input panel and it's not uncommon for tech savvy people to have lots of HDMI enabled devices. I've used
all of mine already and I'm still yet to get an Apple TV, PS4 and possibly Cable Box.

I'm in the same boat, 4 HDMI on my TV and still using a switch. Thankfully I think I've run out of things to possibly hook up to it....or if I do my next concern will be blowing fuses.

This is truth. When I buy an Apple TV I may consider using the passthrough but until that day I neglect to acknowledge it's existence. There's no point filling a hole that serves you no real purpose. It's just like putting empty cans in all your cars cup
holders for no reason other than it having cup holders.

I don't want to stray the topic or start an inappropriate conversation but I certainly breathed a sigh of relief when I read the OP after seeing that title!

    -

On Topic; I've heard of people using the HDMI as a passthrough and even using other consoles through it but as mention, the lag means it's only really good for movies and TV as any input is too delayed to be of any use in a gaming situation or even general
    computing.

I didn't know there was a hole in the back of Xb1???? Nah J/k it just sounded funny to me. On topic though you can even plug a Xb 360 in the hole if you want to.

Your laptop needs an IR port (and/or a external ir blaster plugged into the xbox one that is sitting in front of the computer ir port) in order for the console to control it.
