    Can you insert a disc into the xbox one when installing a game bought from the marketplace?


    I just got an Xbox one. Before I begin setting up the console I want to know. Can you insert a disc into the Xbox say a DVD while your installing a game as I got the Sunset Overdrive Xbox One Bundle and I want to know if I'll be able to watch a DVD while
    the game installs as I've heard installation of games takes awhile.

    Game Installation By Disc Fixed On Xbox One?

    When you install by disc it installs from the disc. It doesn't download the entire game, only updates.

    Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Issues

    Backwards compatible 360 games aren't read off the disc.

    Instead, if the Xbox One detects the security sector of the 360 disc properly, it'll download the game in a special emulator container from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

    No actual game data is used from the disc, so as long as the security sector on the disc is intact and readable, the scratches on the disc don't matter. Even games that stopped working on the 360 can be played on the Xbox One again because of this.

    So make sure that your console is properly connected online when you insert the 360 disc, so the console can download the game from the Marketplace.

    Not quite sure what you mean but you can download XBLA titles and full retail releases (Games on Demand) from the Marketplace.



    You can also install your games to the consoles hard drive (or any sufficiently large enough memory device) by going to the My Xbox channel with the game inserted and pressing Y. On this screen you'll have the option to install it.

    Once done you'll still need to have the disc inserted but it'll only spin once when you start the game.

    Thank you but this is not my issue. I bought the disc for XBox One Edition but cannot launch it. When I insert the disc it just launches the new, Bedrock edition (which was already installed).

    Xb1 won't play backward compatible anymore

    To make Xbox 360 games work, they are "translated" to x64 language, and then uploaded to the Xbox Marketplace. When you insert a disc, it's just a "proof of purchase", and the actual game data is downloaded from the Xbox Marketplace. Also, it might be your DNS code you can google a DNS code for your region
