Can you gift games?

Is it possible to buy a game on the xbox store and gift it to someone?.

I'm used to being able to easily do that on steam but I don't see that option here.

Point codes are region locked, so be sure not to buy one for someone who lives elsewhere.

I suggest that if the giftee is in the states and you reside up here in Canada...send him a prepaid creditcard instead. that worked out very good for me when I need to send my peeps in the states something as the VISA/MASTERCARD will work anywhere and are
not region blocked.

OR...if they use paypal, send the funds to them that way as a lot of us gamers have paypal now. That's also a safe alternative to credit cards.

One more question I have then is if I bought a gift card from the Microsoft store in the U.S. and sent it to someone in England would it work?.

 

Gift cards will only work for the region they created for.

Theybtried introducing such a feature as a launch feature the boss of xbox quit after the mass protest

There was a massive protest against it by bloggers almost 1m users signed off agaimst it

It may come in a future releas. As an option

It isbbecause like steam you had to be connected to the net at all times to confirm you deleted it but you could give away games and evdn loan the games out

However it wouldve been limited by regions

So practicallity

 

Actually on Steam you can choose when you buy a game for yourself or as a gift. Then choose who to send it to without ever installing it on your own account.

Nice system to have in place.
