Can you get free XBox Live Gold?

Xbox Live Gold is the paid subscription for the overall service of Xbox Live. Since you need Xbox Live Gold to play online and access the deals and Free Games with Gold you get every month, "Gold" and "Live" are generally used synonymously. Whatever Free
Game with Gold you downloaded when you first put in the free trial should still be playable with your active paid subscription granted you first claimed the game on the same account you started the trial to the one you are using now to play the games with
the active Gold subscription. Any free game you claimed with the Gold subscription can only be played with an active Gold subscription.

Forza Horizon 4 is a game you get with an active Xbox Game Pass subscription and not an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Forza Horizon 4 was never available as a Free Game with Gold. King's Quest is a free game in general and has always been listed as free so
anyone can get this game for free if they have an Xbox One console with or without an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Xbox Live Gold basically gives you 3 main things. Multiplayer and chat capabilities with friends or other players over the internet, Deals with Gold, and Free Games with Gold.

You can download free games with gold from the xbox live website too. Just remember you must be a gold member to get the free games.

Hi DaedalPopcorn48. I know what you mean, sometimes they can be confusing. Anyway here is my take on it.

Xbox Live - it's the service you use when you log into your account. Doesn't matter if you have the free service or the paid gold subscription, everyone can access Xbox Live.

Xbox Live Account - That's the account you make the first time you use the service.

Xbox Live Membership - That's the membership you are given when you join the service, whether free or gold.

Xbox Live Gold & Xbox Live Subscription - This is the paid service to allow you to use multiplayer, get deals with gold and free games with gold each month. This also includes party chat and a few more perks that you get with gold.

ps4 does not have free multiplayer it actually has a cost, xbox do promotional xbox live throughout the year you just need to keep an eye on it

PS4 also has a pay subscription for multiplayer online gaming. As does Nintendo too.

You can subscribe to the Microsoft rewards scheme and do daily tasks/quests and earn points (free to earn) These points can be converted into Xbox Live or any other subscription you wish to have
