  1. Can you get console banned for using a HDMI to VGA Converter on Xbox One?

Hello I have an issue that I have tried to resolve by all other methods. My issue it looks like can only be solved by this method, the issue at hand is text and so forth is appearing off screen on my Hisense 40 Inch 40H3E HDTV with a direct HDMI input from
the console. My TV does not have any option other than the pre-sets to adjust the X & Y axis of the screen ratio, I know the quality won't be as good, but at this point I don't care. At least to my knowledge I don't think I can since I am NOT modifying anything
of the console or anything Microsoft/Xbox related. I want to be sure though. The reason why I am thinking this is the solution is, because my VGA port does in fact allow the X & Y axis to be adjusted allowing me to fix the problem at a reduction in quality
of course. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question and helping me with my issue.

    :)

    Does anybody know ???

The Xbox One doesn't support VGA natively. You can get a converter to convert it from HDMI to VGA. Essentially, you would be downgrading the quality as VGA is analog and HDMI is digital. Microsoft got rid of the AV ports, which are analog, for a reason to
begin with. (Rather, they chose not to include them in this generation because HDMI is the standard for next-gen.)

  3. Question about Outputs...

Ok, I'm currently using a Viewsonic monitor that only runs on VGA or DVI. I have a VGA power cord from Microsoft that I use for Xbox 360. Should I just go buy an HDMI monitor for Xbox One? Or should I stick with this one and buy a HDMI to VGA converter?
    Lemme know.

Also I have tried all common troubleshooting methods through Xbox & my TV's manufacturer with no success. So please try not to suggest anything from the support pages from both as 99.8% chance I have already tried it.

  5. If there is content in your TV picture that seems "cropped out", you probably just need to adjust the "Zoom" setting on your TV.

Most HDTVs have a feature to compensate for outputs at different aspect ratios other than the TV's native ratio. You'd likely want to adjust the "Aspect Ratio" setting found in your TV's "Picture" settings, under "Advanced Settings". It just might do the
trick and solve your dilemma: Using The Sound Menu; Using The Time Menu; Using The Setup Menu - Hisense 40H3E User Manual [Page 10]

Your TV remote also should have a button that says "Aspect" or "Zoom". Press that, cycle through the options, and see how it works out.

As far as an HDMI to VGA adapter goes: no, it is highly unlikely you would ever get banned for using such a thing.
It's just a simple display adapter -- it doesn't help you cheat in games or modify the Xbox in anyway. Heck, I've used a third-party VGA cord with my Xbox 360 to play Halo on my computer monitor for a year and I'm still hunky-dory to this day!

    Hope this all helps!

  6. Yeah that's why I was asking about this, as my HDMI ports have no way of changing this except through preset settings that do not work, but my VGA port does allow you to use a custom setting to adjust the aspect ratio. Anyways I did ended up buying one at
Radioshack as none of my local stores sold any, and it works perfect, in some cases it feels and looks better than HDMI. If you are curious here is my HDTV name and model: Hisense 40H3E 40 Inch LED HDTV.

16x9 to 4x3 and LCD vs CRT issues

1.) The delay comes from the HDMI to VGA converter, as they need to take a full digital frame information, and "serialize" it to an analogue signal that is "drawn" line by line. So check the technical specifications for the HDMI to VGA converter.

2.) Neither the Xbox nor a VGA monitor from the 00's will do 4:3 conversion. Depending on how the HDMI to VGA converter handles the conversion to analogue, you might get a 16:9 picture squished to fullscreen (i.e. long slim faces). Or, if the HDMI converter
advertises to the Xbox a certain screen aspect ratio, the Xbox could letterbox the 16:9 picture.

The Xbox gets the information about screen resolution and aspect ratio via HDMI from the display (in this case the converter). I don't know if the converter detects the CRT's capabilities via VGA and passes them along via HDMI. And if so, if HDMI can work
with the resolution and refresh rate information from the CRT.

Basically: Contact the maker of the HDMI to VGA converter and ask them how they handle it all.
