Can you get an enforcement even without a specifci complaint?

My 17 yo son has received a series of enforcement actions on his Xbox Live account. I'm not defending him, he deserved them up until now. But they seem to have the desired effect & he cleaned up his act. He recently received 2 more actions and he honestly
doesn't know why. I appealed the actions for him (he has a child account), but the only detail I got in the response was that they reviewed the evidence & can confirm he was abusive or harassing. They wont give the specifics, I guess to protect the anonymity
of whoever reported him ... fair enough.

He showed me all his messages over recent weeks & for the most part they seem harmless. Now his messages to specific friends (meaning real life friends, not just online friends) do contain a lot of trash talk in both ways ... that's what teenage friends
do ... but he is adamant none of those guys would report him, and, likewise, he would not report them.

Is it possible that, in the light of a history of actions, the enforcement team have undertaken a review of all his messaging, even without a specific complaint, and acted on that?

I have told him I think that may be it, so he is going to try & cut out the crap with his mates, but is it really likely?

the current enforcement on Xbox live is a complete joke people can spam reports on you and then you get banned for two weeks at a time. Even if you message someone without any derogatory language if enough people report u there is a very strong chance u
will be banned. Of course the trolls,cheats,and players that's leave games early during ranked play usually get away without any punishment.

 

Can I get banned from Xbox without Xbox having proof I did somthing wrong ?

The enforcement team does not issue suspensions/bans without investigating the complaint first. You can have a million complaints filed against you and not get suspended unless the enforcement team determines you have done something to violate the code of
conduct/terms of service.

 

Not necessarily, but he still could have been in a game with someone who reported him and the enforcement team saw his messages with his friends.

To also add. Your son could have been in game chat or in a party with someone and said something then. If whoever reported him in party or in game would have made the Enforcement team aware of what had happened in the party/game at the particular time. Just
because its a communication ban, does not mean its just limited to messages. It can streach to anything that has been said in Party chat or in Game chat.

Another thing is that messages are automatically deleted after 30 days so if it was for a message it could of been one from longer than 30 days ago.
