Can you do remote play from your phone when games on a external hard drive?

Yes, you can play remotely from your console to any of the applications and use games that are saved on external storage devices, however, some of these fail and may throw you the message saying that it is not possible to play the game in remote mode .

If the game doesn't allow you to stream it from external storage, unfortunately there isn't anything to force it, what you could do is try remote mode from another device, for example from the mobile app or from another PC (if you're using one)

External hard drives work just fine offline.

To make your content work offline - specifically digital content - you need to make sure that the console you are using is your 'Home Console'. When your console is set to your home, you must also put your console into 'offline' mode.

Once this has been done, you can play indefinably offline, both from the internal hard drive and an external hard drive regardless of whether a game a digital purchase or installed from a disc. Use of an external hard drive does not require a connection
to LIVE.

There is also no restriction to using an external hard drive to install games from disc whilst also offline.

Set up the external hard drive on the console and you can start downloads from your PC or mobile phone.

So when i buy an external hard drive do will that add on to my console storage or do games i install install to the external hard drive and my xbox one will play them from there? just curious
