Can you create a user on the XBox One without an email?

I want to create a local account on the Xbox One for a person so that games we play together locally (Lego Hobbit, Minecraft) will save his acheivments and games. I don't need it to access live so don't want to create one attached to an email account.
This was simple on the 360 but I can't seem to create an account without it asking for a email address and password. I don't understand why this is so difficult.

Why can anyone create a user on the xbox?

Recently had a guest to stay and she made herself a user on the xbox. This wasn't a problem in that I was happy for her to have one, but if she can do it so can my kids. They could create a user with adult settings behind my back and I would be none the
wiser (not being an xbox user myself). How can I prevent this from happening?

There isn't a way to restrict someone from creating a new account on the Xbox One console. A new user would have to go through a few steps and need to have an email account, or create one in order to make that happen. If you'd like to see this become an

The idea is that you only need to access Xbox Live once, and the rest of the time you can play offline. (Achievements only pop-up when you're connected to XBL, though.) The one time you need to connect to XBL is to register an account... that must contain
an email. Right now, what you're asking for is essentially impossible. Unless I am mistaken, so I invite anyone to correct me.

You are Correct Jel. Unless the friend wants to play as a Guest you must have an email. Just get the MS email sign up your friend and then forget the email simple. Both my kids have accounts with emails but have no purchase rights and the like.

create a profile for your youngest child in outlook, it is already a microsoft account, using this email create an account on xbox, just use the email as login and email password without any problems, the only one The issue is the privacy settings since he is a child and will come with age restrictions.

My nephews and nieces they don't use emails. I wish xbox one was like xbox 360 used to be create profiles without emails.

on xbox 360, its possible to just create an xbox profile that is not in turn a "Microsoft Account" so that way your children can play offline and have separate game saves, but to connect to xbox live and play online (multiplayer & and purchasing content)
the xbox profile must sign up for Xbox Live.

If a user signs up for Xbox Live, a Microsoft account is required (emails are required for this). If the user is under the age of 18, then an additional Microsoft account must be created to monitor the child account and accept the terms of use for being
in control of the child account. Xbox one has changed the way profiles are created, if you try to create an account it will automatically try and setup a Microsoft account. It isn't possible to create just an "Xbox profile" without having an email and password
just like dakrkplayer2 states. Please read the code of conduct and terms of use as well for the official information.
