Can Xbox one work through DisplayPort

Ok, so I was wondering if my Xbox One S would work with DisplayPort. I know it doesn't have a DisplayPort plug-in so I am thinking about buying a DisplayPort to HDMI cable. If I plugged the HDMI part into the Xbox and the DisplayPort part into my monitor,
will it work or no?

Connecting my 360 to a monitor with Displayport

Hi all!

Firstly, I have purchased the Xbox 360 HD VGA + RCA cable and my audio is all good.

The monitor I am trying to connect it to is only HDMI / Displayport compatible. So currently I have a VGA Male (from the box) and need a it to go into a Displayport female.

Would this product work for me?

MY SETUP (with this item)

XBOX output -> VGA male -> VGA female to Displayport male -> Displayport female (monitor)

would this work? if not, what would? I would really like to use this monitor

Acer CB281HK - Xbox One X - HDMI to Displayport

Hey everyone,

So I have a Acer CB281HK monitor 4k 10 bit color w/ freesync and new xbox one X. I understand the freesync is most likely unusable with this combination (unless I read wrong elsewhere). However, I can only connect through HDMI because the Displayport receives
no signal from the Xbox -> HDMI -> DisplayPort/HDMI adapter -> Displayport on monitor. The HDMI port on the monitor is 4k however it lacks the 10 bit color + Freesync features only available through Displayport not HDMI.

When I run the video settings on Xbox one X it says 4k but lacking freesync, 10 bit color, hdr (not on monitor) for gaming (I honestly could care less about 4k apps just gaming).

I've seen many adapters and off and on reviews and I will do what I need to get this 10 bit color and hopefully freesync working. I really don't want to wait for 4k HDMI 10 bit HDR monitors that are not out yet . Any solutions to this? I want to get the
full one X exprerience with 10 bit color gaming.

It is possible, but be careful with choosing an adapter.

The adapters you see online typically work in one direction, so you'll have to look for an adapter that states to convert "HDMI to DisplayPort", not "DisplayPort to HDMI". Most adapters support an outdated version of HDMI (1.4),
so in the case of the Xbox One S, you'll only get up to 1080p resolution.

The kind of adapter you're looking for is typically higher in price ($45+), and active (needs external power).

This is one example of an adapter that the manufacturer states to work with the Xbox One. YMMV as you shop around - be sure to check customer reviews and FAQ.

Ok, I am really good with tech but kind of new with computer monitors. I got a new monitor and the picture is kind of fuzzy, the frame rate is horrible. and it just doesn't look right. I have it set on 1080p on both the monitor and
Xbox and have even calibrated my monitor. So I searched it up and it said that DisplayPort is better because it will produce a better quality picture. Is this true? Because if it isn't, I will probably just return my monitor and get a different one. But if

Make sure also that the monitor supports, HDMI Displayport 2.0 as that what the Xbox One S and Xbox One X use, I believe that the standard Xbox One only uses HDMI Displayport 1.4,

Its possible that the monitor only supports HDMI Displayport 1.4,

Its possible that you're TV has HDMI Displayport 2.0, which could be the reason it works on the TV but not the monitor.

I'm saying that HDMI to displayport adapters are pointless to use, and if you were to use one , you'll still only be getting 60hz.

you want to connect the HDMI port of the Xbox console to a HDMI port on the monitor or TV for the best outcome,

because the Xbox One X does not have a displayport on the console, you can't go displayport to displayport,

so the only choice is HDMI to HDMI, i personally would not go HDMI from the console to displayport on the monitor via an HDMI to displayport adapter,

when connecting to a monitor it's best to go straight...

HDMI to HDMI

or

Displayport to Displayport

never

HDMI to Displayport via an adapter.

No, adapters can make thing worst for you and are pointless to use, You always want to connect via HDMI to HDMI or Displayport to Displayport for the best outcome, never go HDMI to Displayport.
