Can Xbox One S pass 4k video through the HDMI input?

I'm looking to connect a DirecTV 4k Genie to the INPUT of an Xbox One S and want to know if it can pass HDCP 2.2 through to the HDMI output? Xbox Live support chat was unable to answer my question and so far I haven't seen any reviewers putting a 4k source
into the Xbox One S HDMI INPUT port.

4K Pass-through on Xbox One S?

Hello, changed xbox one for xbox one "s" 2 weeks ago. Changed HD terminal for a 4K UHD terminal. Pass-through doesn't work in 4K. I think xbox one s caracteristics are not clear. I upgraded the console and the terminal for the 4K pass-through not for changing
hdmi sources all the time... Not happy about this. I know the xbox one s caracteristics do not say "4K pass-through enable" but as a central entertainment device as MS says, 4K pass-through should be included in the "4K content" terminology. At first I didn't
think 4K pass-through was not supported because it was obvious it was supported.

Xbox One X won't play 4K from Sky Q through input and output HDMI Connection

The HDMI IN on the XBOX ONE / ONE S / ONE X are all just 1080P there is no 4K pass through on those consoles.

- Game developer has to make the game 4K

- 4K pass-through is a hardware feature that does not exist within the console. You'd be better

off running your 4k Sky Q into the TV directly. (the xbox is doing what it's designed to do)

 

Yes the Xbox One S is comparable with HDCP 2.2 support but i have seen that it does not support HDMI 2.0 until a future update if applies to you.

 

I've tried my C61k (DirecTV 4k Mini), Amazon 4k Fire TV and TiVo Bolt through the Xbox One S. 4k isn't passing through for any of them.

Yeah, it is a shame. I jumped on the One S just because I thought I'd be able to go back to running my DirecTV setup through my Xbox One. If I had known it wouldn't pass through 4k I would have just stuck with my old Xbox One. Needless to say I'm not
happy.

 

glad I read these threads. I was going to buy one tomorrow but not now.

 

I'm considering returning mine especially since we've heard nothing from Microsoft about this maybe even being possible after an update. Sheer stupidity not to have it..

 

After a calamity of errors in trying to get the proper 4K DirecTV equipment installed, I verified, with the DTV tech standing right next to me, that I was getting a 4K signal from my Mini when running through my Denon 4K receiver. Had my 1S running through
a separate HDMI port to my receiver at the time. Ran the Mini through the 1S & now getting the message, "Your TV doesn't support 4K content" when trying to view DTV's 4K channel. Disappointing to say the least. Not such a bad thing except I'm trying to make
the setup & operation as easy as possible for my family without a bunch of input swapping; still, sorely peeved that I can't view DTV through my 1S. <smh>

 

Has anyone even seen Microsoft acknowledge this?? I mean, come on. At least tell us if this isn't going to work, will work, it's a bug, etc...

 

Hey, all! Xbox One S does not currently support 4K pass-through via HDMI-in. You will want to set up your set top box to have a 1080p resolution, and have the Xbox One S upscale the content from there if you would like to have your set top box use pass through
still.
