Can Xbox One game discs be used by other people?

I don't fully understand how Xbox One game discs work, so I was looking for someone to help explain. If the game is downloaded to the Xbox One's hard drive, can the one game disc be passed around and downloaded on multiple different consoles? How does
this work when purchasing used Xbox One game discs that have already been downloaded onto another console?

ok, thanks for your quick response, and is game data saved on the disc or is it unique to the console/account? Like if I buy a used game, will it have the previous owner's game progress or will it be fresh for the new user?

Yes, you can use the same game disc across multiple consoles. However, the game disc does need to be inserted for you to play the game. In regards to the disc being used, this does not matter. Save data is linked to each individual profile, so it will
be like new to you or any different profile. Hope this helped and happy gaming!

Hi,

Xbox One game discs are on Blu-ray disc and like the Blu-ray HD movie discs you can buy for movies, these discs are read only. Content is saved will be saved on the hard drive.

Games need to be installed fully to a hard drive for two reasons.

Blu-ray drives just can't read the data fast enough to play directly from a disc.
Piracy prevention. If you own a game on disc, you need to keep the disc inserted to prove ownership.

Game data is separate from save data. It'll just be the data for the game. The discs do not store anything else.
