  1. Can Xbox One control a Vizio sound bar?

I have a Vizio sound bar plugged directly into my X1 (w/ Kinect) via optical audio cable. The sound works fine but when I say "Xbox Mute" or "XBox Volume Up" the TV responds with "Speakers Off" but the sound bar does nothing. The voice power on/off also
works with the TV but not the sound bar. Is there some setting I'm missing? Thanks!

    :)

  3. Any Vizio Owners Out There?

Vizio is quality for the price you pay. I've had too and can't complain for the quality/price balance. One thing I will say that I did notice, Vizio has a better response time. The Philips I had seemed to have a lag on video and I never noticed it until
I replaced it with a Vizio. Everything but the tv was the same but the sound and control was much more in-sync with the Vizio.

Can Xbox One control a Vizio sound bar?

I have a Polk Audio sound bar. I have my audio cable plugged in from my tv, not my X1. It will do volume up, volume down, mute just fine. I know the audio has to be set up in your settings. It will give you a list of manufacturers and models. Just follow
    the set up.

  5. I have my Xbox plugged directly into my SS system via optical audio cable and it can be set up to control both the power on/off and volume up/down that way.

Kingvas is on the right track. I know that you need to go into your settings, it's just been so long, I can't recall exactly where. You'll need to check and see.

I assume that since you're already plugged in via cable like I am, that you already have your audio settings set to 'bitstream out' and the bitstream out set to the proper SS format, if it has surround capability.

What you'll need to do, is go into the place where you set up your TV power on/off and volume up/down settings. Once there, you will need to check and see how to add or configure another device (your soundbar). When you do that, it should ask you for a code
to control the device... or if you don't have a code (which is the more likely scenario), you should be able to have the Xbox search for the code. Once it finds the proper code, you should be able to set it to power on/off with the Xbox if you want and you
should also be able to use voice command to control the volume.

Sorry I couldn't be a bit more clear with the process, but I may just look around when I turn mine on later just to refresh my memory on it, so post if you still have problems and I'll see if I can help.

5.1 Uncompressed audio via HDMI connection

Can you provide an update for your situation? I tried the optical connection first and it worked fine, but hooking everything up using HDMI is not working for sound. Here's my setup...I have a UHD Samsung TV, Cisco cable box, Xbox One, and a Vizio S5451w-C2
sound bar. The Vizio sound bar has a HDMI ARC connection option. I have my connections set up as follows ALL WITH HDMI CONNECTIONS::

Cable box --> Xbox One --> Vizio sound bar (HDMI Input) --> Vizio sound bar (HDMI Output)--> Samsung UHD TV (HDMI ARC)

I can get video just fine using this connection, but NO sound. My TV settings are good to go, but I'm wondering if there is some Xbox audio setting that is the final piece to this puzzle. Currently, my "HDMI audio" is set to "5.1 uncompressed" and "Bitstream
format" is set to "DTS Digital Surround". Does anyone know if these are correct or if there is something I'm missing?
