Can We Still Only Use Live Accounts For Live?

Hey there, just looking for a quick answer really...

Are we still restricted to using hotmail/live/outlook e-mail addresses for our Xbox Live accounts? I would have thought that Microsoft would realise their e-mail ship sailed a long time ago and like a fair portion of the world, Gmail is my active e-mail
account. It causes me no real pain or hardship but it sure would be convenient to link up to my Gmail so can I do this yet?

Family/Home Gold Account Complicated Question

I saw the communications and FAQs from Microsoft, but I'm still unclear on how this will work for me.

I have a family account with 4 people on it. Only 2 of us really use it. I understand that all of us will be converted to individual Gold accounts.

I have a 360 now, and a One on order. I'll still want to use both.

For the two of us that use it, we'll have to now pay the $60/year (or whatever it is now) if we want to continue to use the 360, right?

Can I have free sub-accounts on 360 or is that only for One?

Another way to ask: is this what I will look like in November?

Xbox 360:

• $ live account 1
• $ live account 2
• the other 2 people can't use this

Xbox One:

• same $ live account 1 with 2 free accounts
• same $ live account 2

 

Help establishing an account

The process of establishing an account for my son has me running in circles. Before I ask my question, I'm going to vent. xBox is expensive and so is an xBox live gold account. To top it off, I was hit with an extra charge of .50 to prove I'm an adult.
After my son created an account followed by me me creating an account for myself so he can use xBox live gold, we still cant get to the point where we can redeem his code from the xBox 360! What are we doing wrong? How do you sign into a microsoft account
without creating a new profile from an xBox 360? I can't find a simple "sign in" link. We are only seeing "join xBox Live."

 

Actually, my son uses his Gmail account and it worked fine for sign-up surprisingly. I think only the Xbox 360 required it by default and that is still the only reason I have a hotmail account.

 

Ahh that's great to hear! Although now I can't seem to remember how to change the e-mail account.

 

Well I think it has to be a NEW account as the gamertag you have now is always connected to the email you registered it with or maybe you could try calling the customer service line...depending on how patient you are and if you have about 1 1/2 hours to
kill trying to get past the "Did you unplug the cord yet" dialog, lol
