Can we get a way to Disable the IR on Xbox One? (media remote)

i have a pair of Xbox Ones in the same room and the media remote is next to useless because it sends to both Xboxes at the same time (just had to refund a game i bought by accident while trying to watch Youtube!)

A setting to turn off the IR receiver would be nice in the next update.

    :)

    Hey everyone,

For those having trouble controlling volume with the IR remote while it works fine via voice: this is an issue with IR interference as the IR from the remote and the Kinect are interfering and keeping the appropriate IR signals from reaching your TV.

The best workaround is to angle the remote in a way that it points more toward the Xbox than the TV. For instance, my Xbox is 2-3 lower than my TV at home, so I angle the remote downward when I send volume.

Other options include using IR extension cables instead of the Kinect or to re-arrange the devices.

I understand the frustration here, and I'm sorry that you're experiencing it.

    Media remote

I was going to until I saw it was just an IR remote and doesn't connect like a controller. Who needs a cheap IR remote with just a few buttons when you can get the full blown Harmony remote to control everything? What I want is a full blown universal
RF remote that works through the Kinect as an IR blaster. I need to be able to control all the features of my receiver and FIOS DVR.

xbox one media remote control tv volume WITHOUT Kinect ... possible?

    No, it's not a universal remote: (www.xbox.com/.../media-remote)

The remote controls TV/receiver power and volume through Kinect, or an IR extender cable (cable not included).

You need Kinect or IR Extenders.

Official Xbox one media remote being assigned to one console?

    Hi

I have not seen an option in the menus on the console that allows you to disable the Xbox One media remote. As the remote uses

    IR technology
to control your console you could try repositioning one of the consoles to see if this stops it from being controlled by the remote.

It may also be worth posting this on the
    Xbox Ideas website
to try to get this feature added to the console.

    IR Extender or Repeater Question

No, not in the way I need. The Kinect does push IR signal to other devices, but it wont accept a signal from the remote to push to the One. I thought it was at first too, but it is not according to Microsofts XBOX One Media Remote Page. See the "Using
    The Media Remote" here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/xbox-one-media-remote-info#a9c721fbfb30407aaf1cfdb82bad46f8

Can the Media Remote control my audio receiver WITHOUT a Kinect?

    Hey there T Destroy3r!

It is possible to use your Xbox One Media Remote with your Xbox One console without having a Kinect. In order to control volume on your receiver you will need to have an IR blaster that connects via 3.5 mm cable and has 3 or fewer emitters. For more info,
check out our Xbox One Media Remote and IR Extension Cable support
    articles.

    Hope that helps! :D
