Can the Xbox One MAC address change after a software update?

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. The only time it would change is if it was reset or manually put in. These usually stay the same. A software update would not change the Mac address though unfortunately.

Thanks Brad. I discovered my child was manually changing the MAC address to get around my Circle Parental control. So, This is just another fabricated lie my child came up with to try to confuse me. Trying to keep up with teenager’s technological skills
is exhausting.

Microsoft Locked the wireless alternate mac address on the new xbox one s , this means if you have to manually input the wireless mac address you cant, even if you manually input the wireless alternate mac address it wont take after the console restarts..this
is bad new gamers, you been warned...if you need to manually enter your alternate mac address then dont buy a new xbox one s.

also noted that every game console lets you change the wireless mac address, even the original xbox one lets you change the alternate mac address to the one you need to use...but the new xbox one s locked us out in changing the wireless mac address manually

Worst experience with XBOX ONE. I'm on a 10 days trip to Australia and bought XBOX ONE on the first day.

I was excited to play games one my new xbox one.

Unfortunately this XBOX one doesn't connect to hotel WiFi/LAN (hotel wifi requires me to accept 'terms & conditions' - popup that opens in other devices).

This dumb device doesn't recognize that. Keeps trying to connect and finally reports failure.

Searched through multiple forums and came to know that we can setup alternative MAC address (in the trouble shooting step). After changing the Mac address, it asks to 'restart'. After restarts, the setup starts from beginning. Did the XBOX developer forgot
to write the 'code' save it?

I'm a software engineer with 8 years of experience, but it doesn't help me to use this device on my day one. Dear XBOX team, Windows is famous for frequent software updates. Are you kidding with first day software update? That too with 2GB size data?

I tried with my mobile (tethering got disconnected due to an incoming call). After 46% download, xbox asks me to start again from the beginning.

I regret buying XBOX ONE. Definitely I won't recommend it to anyone else.
