Can the Xbox One control Android TV? (using IR)

    Hi,

Can the Xbox One control Android TV? (using IR)

I currently have a TiVo box connected to HDMI in and primarily using a Xbox Media Remote to control it. Can I do the same with a Android TV box?

This is the box in question (in Swedish only)

    Overview https://www.comhem.se/tv/tv-hub

    Details https://www.comhem.se/tv/tv-hub/info

It's running Android TV 7.1.1 and Technicolor is the manufacturer.

Most likely one of the boxes in this list, the Technicolor Sapphire (UZX4020 / UZX8020)

    Thx!

    :)

    Hello Fredrik,

Thanks for coming to the forums. The only way this would work (if it is possible) is to set it up through the one guide. Go to settings>TV and one guide and select one guide. Don't really think it will work fully due to most the apps you get there can be
downloaded on the Xbox like Netflix and you tube. Being its a hub and not a set top box like cable box doubt it will function like you want.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

It's also a set-top box with cable TV channels. If the Xbox supports the correct IR remote codes it should work. Any way you can verify?

I haven't got the box yet as they (Comhem) charge a extra fee for it.

    Hi ,

Unfortunately there is no way to verify what IR codes the Xbox One supports since there is no public chart or article showing a list of IR codes. However, I'm pretty sure the cable box you are referencing can be controlled using the Xbox One Media remote
as long as you set up the cable box through the Xbox OneGuide.

The Xbox One is capable of connecting to set-top boxes all around the world. There is no indication of set-top boxes that wouldn't work as I would expect a note of set-top boxes that don't work but there is none of that so we have to assume it should connect
fine. Sweden is also a supported region for live tv pass thru by HDMI. If you would like, you can even ask the TV provider if they have any information whether their box works on Xbox One or not but I think it should work personally.

Here is relevant information found on our support website:

    I hope this helps!
    Thank you.

And there's no MS internal list you can check?

I also believe it will work, but it would be nice to know before I buy it. Really love the XB1/OneGuide ability to control my set-top box, AV receiver and TV :) Now with Alexa support I can (again, used to do it with my Kinect, before I got a One X and found
out the Kinect adapter was discontinued...) also use voice to control it all.

AV equipment manufacturers usually have their standard IR codes, so if it can control some Technicolor boxes it can probably control this one as well.

    Cheers!

    Hi Fredrik,

Doubt the remote will work with the Xbox as they have a remote for the console itself. Unable to locate any information with what other remotes will work.

    Thanks,
