Can the cpu cause my Xbox to freeze

my xbox freezes every 20seconds and i cant even update it. I have factory reset it multiple times but still freezes. My games will not start either. I think its because my cpu might be damaged because the thermal paste dried up but im sure. Could
someone help me

If you have done a factory reset and tried leaving it unplugged overnight you will need to request a repair you can request a repair here http://account.microsoft.com/devices select
your console then press Start Order under Service.

The game no longer works on my pc either, freezing on the main menu. I also have a G3258 cpu. I'm guessing they made some changes to the engine code that makes it entirely incompatible with cpus that only have 2 threads.

Hey its the xbox360 arcade. I have cleaned it from dust in the fans,motherboard,cpu etc. I tried offline = freezing, hardrive games = freezing, disc games = freezing, disc films = freezing

Are you closing games or apps before starting another game?

Having too many things running in background will use up the xbox resources, (cpu, memory etc) and will cause the issue you describe.

Can you please download a tool to measure your CPU and GPU temperature?

It can be Core Temp, NZXT CAM, Speccy, Hardware Monitor, HWMonitor, AIDA64.

Check your CPU and GPU temperature when gaming and post the results here, please.

Usually lagging after some minutes gaming can be cause by high temperatures of CPU or GPU.
