Can`t Play DVD on console but can on computer

Hello. I am having a problem playing disc 2 of a six disc set on my XBOX 360. I have no problem playing this exact same disc on my computer. Microsoft`s trouble shooting seems to ONLY suggest that the problem is the DVD that I am attempting to play.
I hereby submit that the DVD might not be the problem given that I can play the DVD *on my computer* I have tried to access Microsoft help, but I cant do so, as they have required fields that I *must* enter, such as my name, but those fields are GRAYED OUT,
and I cannot enter any data in those fields. I have a perfectly fine screenshot of the login screen with the name field grayed out, but this editor will not let me include this picture. automated FAQ is not helpful, and I believe erroneous with not enough options in their flowchart of diagnosis, I can`t log in for live help, and the screen shot that I took of the login for help is not somehow able to be attached. I do know that my xbox 360
is outdated...Try to convince me why, for when I upgrade, that I should not buy a PS4 instead...Please try.

DVD Will play on Computer but not Xbox 360

I recently got all 6 seasons of The Big Bang Theory. All except 2 discs will play on my Xbox 360. At first I thought the discs might be damaged, but they played on my computer just fine.

Anyone know why they won't play on the Xbox 360 or how to fix this?

G'day Cinamaroll! Sorry to hear about the DVD troubles.

What happens when you try to play those two discs? What error appears?

Try cleaning the discs with a soft cloth,
like so.

If they continue to not read,
clear the cache and reboot your console.

Let us how how that goes, and we'll go from there.

 

Make sure that your console is connected to a DHCP compliant device. This means not using a PVR or a pass through device. DVDs will not play, and only audio will play while the Xbox 360 logo is displayed on screen.

Make sure that your TV isn't a piece of trash. This means third party/cheap brands.

Make sure that your HDMI cable isn't a piece of trash.

 

i'm going to assume that the other 5 discs of 6 play just fine, since you specified just disc 2 wouldn't work. that would suggest it's not some compatibility issue, unless disc 2 is somehow formatted differently than the rest.

funny that it's not against the forum guidelines to talk about other company's systems, but if i were to suggest to you that it could be an issue with the laser needing cleaned or calibrated, they may remove my post.

"we" only recommend official microsoft repairs, because 3rd party or self-repairs can void the warranty, which is very likely no longer in affect for most 360 consoles by now.

definitely giving you info on how to take apart and clean or adjust the power to the laser is something i can't mention, so you would have to search for that online yourself.

tried to edit my post, but i guess i waited too long, so sorry for the double post.

just wanted to say i'm surprised how they seem to be against people getting their consoles fixed for a reasonable price. if it's not in warranty and you have to mail it to microsoft, that's going to be a large portion of your cost right there, so local
service makes sense for anyone who isn't made of money.

you think they'd want people to keep playing their consoles, paying for games and xbox live, rather than just giving up and moving onto a new system, which very possibly could be profitting another company.

 

QuickMythril: Yes, the other five discs in the six disc set play fine. And, as I said, the one that does not play on the Xbox 360 will play just fine on my PC. I did check, and the discs are all in the same region.

Part of the reason that I am ready to give up is, like I said, I tried to chat with MS customer service, but was unable: I could not complete the form to chat with MS, as the obligatory name fields were grayed out and I could not enter the information. I
tried to simply upload photos to this thread, but the file formats that are allowed are ` ` (as in, no file formats are allowed).
