No. Currency will only work for the region it was created for.

So I would assume your account is still under the US region? You can check the region of you account here:
www.commerce.microsoft.com

If that is the case, you would be getting the US marketplace on your console and if you were to change your region back to Aus, you will lose the currency. The only advice I can give is to spend the money before changing your region as you will still be
able to access the content you buy.

You can't convert the KYD to USD. You need to redeem another USD gift card on your account to make the purchase. The KYD balance can only be spent on your country's store.

If you're on PC - the system will identify your local region in India thus, will not show as USD in game store or in the Microsoft store since it will rely on the settings of your PC.

So regardless if your MSA is set to US and your PC settings are in India it will definitely still rely on your PC settings.

Additionally, it may depend on the platform store where you trying to buy from. So if you're on mobile, some games will show USD in general, and upon check out - it will automatically convert to your local currency.
