It has been reported recently that Microsoft has one of it's biggest surprises ever at this years E3. As always there's plenty of rumour and speculation as to what it is but what I've seen a few times now is would Microsoft shock and announce that Xbox Live
becomes free?

I think it was MGF that said it recently, now Sony charge to play online, would Microsoft do the opposite, sort of thing they do?

We shall find out soon

 

I really can't see them letting online play be free. The Gold subscription is a huge source of revenue for the Xbox Division, if not the single biggest source of revenue.

Though I would love it if it happens. Not because I have a great desire to play online but there are some forum members who will go nuts if Microsoft make online play free.

Microsoft unlocking all the apps for Silver members is more likely to happen.

 

I don't care if they paygate online play, there's very little mp that interest me anyway.

Of course it could end up being some minor announcement and people get their hopes up for nothing lol. If it is the "biggest" surprise ever I've been thinking what could it be that would really surprise people? ..

Making Xbox LIVE would definitely be one for me but I am struggling to think of another unless it had something to do with a huge title/developer that Microsoft have managed to buy/get the rights to.

 

I bet the surprise is some sort of hook up with Nintendo, although they would be a natural to hook up with Sony money talks.

 

Xbox Platinum where you get access to games like the PSN+ for an extra fee on top of Gold?

As much as I'd love to see a new Zelda or Mario Kart on Xbox One I think that might be going way past .. "Biggest Surprise Ever" ... not impossible but as near as I believe.

I hope I'm wrong.

 

Why would Nintendo join Microsoft? Nintendo make the most profit from all their consoles and games than Sony or Microsoft.

The surprise will be Ryse 2.

 

If they announce Ryse 2 I will be one happy gamer.

As I said in another thread today, Ryse for me is still one of my favourite next gen titles so far.

Anyone remember last time Microsoft said they were going to make a amazing super duper biggest thing in gaming ever announcement? It was Pacman for Xboxlive Arcade.

Making xboxlive gold free is doubtful, Microsoft have only just introduced the 24 month gold subscriptions at £59.

 

Microsofts surprise will be to bring back the DRM they had planned before the XB1 launch. /trollface

Just kidding, removing the gold paywall for apps definitely seems plausible though, I could see that happening.

 

Im with Lofty. Loved Ryse, as soon as I finished it my first thought was "I hope they make a sequel".

Nah, they definitely won't drop the subscription to play online... they'd have to refund too many people in all kinds of varying amounts.

 

Free Live wont happen, it makes no business sense whatsoever. I mean how much of a market share would you have to gain to make up the gold subs?? My guess is alot.

Tha announcement will be Gears of Halo 5.
