I've never paid more than £23 for 12 months gold, just shop around and wait for deals. There is always some deal somewhere. Here is an offer for 13 months gold for £26 (yes cd keys s avery good site) £2 a month aint too bad.....

You're comparing Skyrim to a card game. Skyrim is one of the biggest world open games I have played. You're going to compare that game with a card game? I understand Magic has some in depth to it. Also, I wouldn't call it day one. This is an updated
version of their first and second game. At least with Skyrim they had a completely new world they were working with. They were using a new graphic engine for the game which just introduces new glitches. Honestly, I would have rather seen you compare it
to a horrible game like Lego Batman or something. Also, if I would have gotten the demo, I wouldn't have been able to play with the one multicolored deck in the game to see how horrible it was. So, you can sit there and expect a patch for the game, and if
it ever happens, you let me know.

Yeah, originally when it was on the OG xbox it was just for online multiplayer and there wasn't much shopping round on price to be done at all.

Gradually MS put more stuff behind the requirement to subscribe though. The first thing I think they tucked behind the paywall was getting demos as they arrived. They worded it as though Gold subscribers got demos early, but what it really was was they delayed
demos for silver accounts.

A move that always seemed silly to me, I mean, do silver account holders not buy games and do demos not promote the buying of the games? (just my thoughts on it tho)

 

Yeah that would be a bad move. Delaying just to produce some Gold sales. Demo's especially. It's a demo that would of gotten me into playing a game and possibly even subscribing if I liked a game that much.

 

Microsoft need to up their game asap with games for gold because so far Xbone has nothing. It's like they are waiting 4 years until they give us Kinect Rivals or some other awful game.

If you do a bit searching indies are expressing their dislikes about MS policy on free games so they need to give us free to play titles too, as the competition has exposed how little value Xbox Live really is.

More demos and early betas wouldn't hurt either.

 

Haven't demos been shown to reduce sales in some cases though?

As for Games for Gold on the One. I've said before but I expect it to be a mirror of the service on PSN+, relatively recent games but you can only use them when subscribed.

As for GwG, if that's how they move on it then I will be happy with that. Is this the renting thing I hear about often? You can play the game for lets say, a month, and then after that it swaps to a new one?

 

True, demos can hurt sales... but that's easy to fix... DON'T MAKE CRAP GAMES! lol

with PSN+ is that they make a selection of games available each month, cycling out old ones. You can choose to add these to your account if you wish.

Any game you add to your 'Instant Game Collection' can be downloaded and played again at any point.

The games are always available once added to your account, as long as you remain a PSN+ member of course.

 

I remember back in the day you could only buy Gold through the Xbox dashboard and it was £39.99. There was no shopping elsewhere, you had to pay that price.

Nowadays, I haven't paid over £30 since the 360 release. I've wasted far more than that on other stuff in my life, so consider it a reasonable price for the enjoyment I get over the course of a year.

 

^ Exactly that Zvonareva, a trip to the Cinema costs me £26 for me and the girlfriend. Thats without popcorn, drinks etc........ just for a couple of hours of entertainment. £30 for a years subscription isnt something i mind paying considering the amount
i use it.

 

I know there was an article on OXM in December I believe saying demo's have hurt the sales of games and that's why a lot of developers don't like the idea.

In an ideal world but there's still loads of developers out that rush together some piece of crud to earn a quick £$£$£$£ ..

Looks like Phil Spencer is planning to get rid or do something about the gold paywall. A fan asks him on twitter;

"now that you're boss, we can start blaming you for Gold 2 play and apps behind the xbox live gold paywall right? sorry phil"
