Can someone please answer a Minecraft Realms question?

Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are inquiring about using a Realm on Minecraft.

Firstly, You will need an Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription to play Realms on an Xbox One console.

Secondly, there are two different types of Realms subscription, one for
Minecraft found on mobile, VR devices, Nintendo Switch consoles, Xbox consoles and Windows 10 computers consoles and one for
Minecraft on a PC (using the Java Edition)

I don't know what version of Minecraft I have on the xbox. It has been updated so does that mean it will be the 'Bedrock' version? How would I find out?

If I install Minecraft (Java) on a Mac, do I still need a Gold subscription?

as long as you have the version with realms you should be ok. your friend will have a realm ID link or code for you to enter

To play online, you'll need xbox gold membership. For the Minecraft version i think you'll need the bedrock editon (which is the one for Xbox, windows 10 and Nintendo switch that just have "Minecraft" in the title (it doesn't say bedrock edition)) and
to join a realm you need to get an invite from the person that has created the realm

You need to make sure that they are on the same update version of Bedrock edition. Currently it is version 1.12.01. Anything higher will be the beta version which is not able to be played on realms.

If they are on the same version then the friend will have to invite them to the realm or give them the realm invite code.

You will also need an active gold subscription to be able to play on realms.
