Are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11?

Does the error show when you launch your downloaded game? Does it happen to your other Game Pass games?

Please try to shutdown your computer first and wait for few minutes to turn it back on.

Be sure to check for your Windows updates and also get all the updates available on your Microsoft Store.

Before you launch the game, check your Xbox app for any available updates on your games.

agree, i re install from fresh once per year as programs being installed and uninstalled leave remnants of trash that starts to bloat the system, i never use third party anivirus rubbish either, there more like malware than actual protection. heres looking at you mcafee, norton and kaspersky lol.

It was my anti-virus! I use Sophos Home.

I searched it up and apparently, it's a known problem for Sophos with multiple games.

Just had to set sims4 as a local exclusion under 'help'>'troubleshoot'.

There are a few things we could try Belle.

So, let's try this, first, make sure your windows and all its services are up to date:

Open Settings, click Update and Security and then Windows Update;

Click Check for Updates;

Click the Download and Install Now option, if available;

Also, check the Microsoft Store for any updates on the Xbox apps and its services.

Then try this:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for The Sims 4 > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then do the same for the Origin app:

Go to windows settings > apps > search for Origin app > click on it and select advanced options.

After that, click repair and then restore, open the app and try again.

Then, try to uninstall and install the game.

If neither of those procedures works, try to restore your PC's OS via the ISO image tool, using that tool you will be able to maintain your installed games and files.
