can someone explain to me how to successfully submit a submission with the stick?

this is my first game since WCW on the n64 and im confused. clearly im terrible since I constantly lose to the CPU and still learning to time the counters

The blood and the cuts in this game are done pretty good....took me a lot of fights to lean how to submit people...now i can slap on a submission in the 1st round with either fighter.

 

Can someone explain to me....

Finish the game your in get your points and money and back out.

 

The submission system is new this year... so basically the best thing to do is work the part of the body that you will be locking the submission on... like the back, or neck, legs arms till they turn red..... then when you go to initiate a finisher submission,
or you just hold down the A button to do a regular submission a mini game pops up now, with two little bars that go round and round in a circle.... ok the point is for you to try to keep youre little half moon looking bar touching their bar, or completely
over it, while doing this you will see the blue round circle that is in the middle of youre two half moons start turning red, when you get that fully red then you will submit them, but if they can keep you off of their half moon bar then it will turn all
the way blue and allow them to get out of the submission move...
