Can somebody explain this billing charge to me please?

Ok. I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Need For Speed: Heat a while back. Because I have EA Access the total charge of the game was £62.99

According to the email receipt I received at the time, I didn't have enough credit in my Microsoft balance to cover the charge, so the emails breaks the cost down as £61.52 coming from my MS balance, and £1.47 coming from my PayPal account.

But today I received a Paypal receipt for the game for £11.52?

I have contacted MS support and was explained the charge in what amounted to gibberish really. I used the chat app and was told that I only had £50 in my MS balance at the time, so £11.52 has been charged to my paypal account to make up the difference to
the £61.52....which doesn't make sense? Why not to the full amount?

But when I asked why the original email receipt showed a paypal payment of £1.47, and why that had been charged separately, they said it was to make up the difference to the total of £62.99???

Now it is possible it is some weird way VAT was charged? I'm not sure. But at the moment it doesn't make any sense to me. Can anybody explain it in English please? Cheers

Hi there. Firstly I appreciate the lengthy detailed reply

and yeah your explanation does make sense.

Up until that point I have always had credit in my account and have been used to them taking payment immediately. I didn't realise they took payment much closer to release date if you have zero balance! Cheers for putting my mind at ease

The trouble is I have just been on with support (via chat) for a good 15-20 minutes and I was none the wiser after he had finished his explanation. It simply doesn't make sense why the original email receipt shows one paypal amount, and today I have been
charged almost 10 times as much via paypal :/

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand have a question on a billing issue. You can check your

order history to see what exactly the details of the charge. You can also request a call from support to have them go over the charges with you. We here on the forums are unable to see into your account.

When you go to Contact Us,follow these steps to request a call from support:

Step 1 ----select Xbox One
Step 2 ----select see other options then subscription changes
Step 3-----select show contact options

Step 4 ----select request call from support

Once they call explain the issue and they will be able to help you. Note that these options regularly change so just keep selecting something that gives request a call from support as a contact option.

At the time you made the pre order as you split the payment no charge would have been taken, they charge 10 days before release. Maybe you spent some of your account balance after you made the pre order and now they charged extra to make up for that shortfall
between your account balance and the cost of the game.

When will I be billed for my game?

If you used account credit only to pre-order your game, your balance will be taken immediately. If you used a credit card, or split your payment between credit card and account balance, you will be charged around 10 days before the game launches.

If your account balance is lower than the amount you authorized for pre-order billing, the remainder will be taken from your credit card. You’ll receive an email to your billing account confirming that the remaining card payment was collected successfully,
and the game will be available for you to play on the day it launches.

The original email receipt you received would have been based on your account balance at that time of pre ordering. The new email will be based on your account balance at the time they charged for the pre order.

Hopefully that makes sense.
