Can somebody explain game ownership structure to me?

I have been away from gaming for a long time. Just bought a One, I see you can buy games in store or download. My current understanding is that if you buy a hard copy, you get the permanent rights for download as well. A few specific question, I hope
somebody can enlighten me:

- If you download the game, can you get the hard copy of it without buying it again?

- If you buy the hard copy, can you then give it to somebody else later? Do the DL rights transfers to them, or do you lose yours somehow?

Why people try and expect to sell their second hand Xbox one on eBay for the price of a new one??

Don't these people know you can now walk into any Argos/game/Tesco's and purchase the machines brand-new for the same price? Who would pay more for secondhand machine bought on eBay and all the problems that could cause, unbelievable!!

Only seen a few bargains i.e. the console and four of five games for around £500 but apart from that people asking silly money for a secondhand machine that you can get brand-new!

 

Can somebody please explain.....

Some are just chancers, some buyers may have paypal funds they want to use. No different from CEX who are still selling them secondhand above RRP in their stores

1 If you get a digital copy then want a disc then you have to buy it I have done that the other way round.

2 You can give/sell your disc to whoever you want but you need the disc to play on your console

ps If you have a disc the only thing you con download again is DLC

 

Hi Emergent, If you buy the downloaded version of the game then decide you want the physical hard copy you will have to buy it over again and vice versa. The only thing is if you buy the digital download of the game and delete it you can go back and re-download
again at anytime. Also witht the digital versions of games you can play them fro any Xbox one console after you download your profile to the designated console that you want to play on. The same goes for the hard copy of the game but you will the disc in the
hard drive in order to play. If you have the disc with or if your friends have any of the games they just need to put the disc in the drive for you.

 

The above was explained quite well, but I'll add a little bit extra:

As already mentioned, when you buy a disc game, you still need to keep the disc inserted to play. However, there are some exceptions to this. For example, if you have the disc version, but your friend has the digital version - and your friend is using their
account on your console - they won't need to insert the game disc, because they own the digital rights.

Also, if for example your friend installs their game disc on your console, and then you decide you want that game too and go the digital route, all you need to do is pay for it via Xbox LIVE. The installed game will unlock and you can play that game on your
account without the disc. This could be very useful if your Internet connection is slow as you won't need to download the game from Xbox Live if the game is already installed from the disc.

Because he owns the game and you don't. You would need to purchase the game.
