Are you connected to internet?

Are you using an account having a gold subscription?

Do you get any error message?

Have you tried disconnecting and re connecting to your wi fi or cabled connection? Have you restarted your router?

As Tarnend has suggested but also check out the Xbox Live Status page just in case there are issues with the Live service.

More information will help us be more specific and point you in the right direction.

I would check the following things:

If you were banned from Xbox Live

If you have an internet connection problem

If some Xbox Live Services are down

If your Xbox Gold membership has expired

Check to see if one of these things is the problem.

if you have been banned there`s nothing we can do other than advise you to head on over to enforcement -> Xbox Enforcement
