Can not play multi-player on Xbox live. Help!

Recently got an Xbox one, and since then I have left town for work, and getting my Xbox to play multi-player isn't working out for me. Here's what I've done. Connected to my hotels WiFi via my android phone, accepted all the nonsense. Disconnected WiFi
from my phone Transfered Mac address from my cell phone to the xbox console Connected the xbox to the WiFi and everything seems fine. Browser works, Netflix works, but when I go to play multi-player on cod aw I get the "you must have an active network connection
to play xbox live or system link matches." So I go check my multi-player connection, and" it's all good" I'm not super tech savvy so I may be missing something here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Ps there is no ethernet jack in the room.

When I try to play on Xbox live Multi-Player I get a message saying 'the current profile is not allowed I play on Xbox live'. I have a gold membership that was renewed. I have tried Removing my profile and downloading it but that has not resolved the Issue.

This may be a restriction on the hotel Wi-Fi blocking access to high demand sites. It may be worth asking the hotel manager about that. Have you tried to connect the phone to the Wi-Fi then turn on mobile hotspot on the phone and connect your Xbox to it

 

Yes, I thought of that, and unfortunately it wouldn't let me run my Hotspot off of WiFi.

The standard WiFi at my hotel is free, but they have a high demand WiFi I guess you'd call it for purchase of $20/week. Which the manager explained is for Netflix, gaming etc. So I purchased it, still no luck. My nat type is moderate if that is any help.

 

That may be the cause of your problems then but alas as its a hotel connection I have no idea how to change it

This has been an ongoing issue since the system update that were pushed out in February 2014. Since this update was released to the public, users were unable to play multi-player games with a configured alternate MAC address for their console. This would
range from users trying to connect to hotel Wi-Fi, or College/Univ. that are using 802.1x protocol for authentication in a Wi-Fi connected infrastructure.

Ask for the possibility to have your Xbox One's MAC address added to the table of MAC addresses on the authentication server, which is often used with the 802.1x protocol, as the Xbox One doesn't support this particular protocol for authentication. A small
fee may be added for this configuration, but at least you can keep the hardware address of your console as it is.
