    Hello,

    I'm trying to change the DNS my Xbox One is using, but it never takes. It always reverts back to the comcast's default IPv6 DNS. If I go offline and manage to get into the advanced settings (not sure how I did this once), the DNS will change to what I
    want it to be. However, as soon as I tell the xbox one to go back online, the default comcast dns overrides my manual change. It's almost like the manual setting never really is staying manual (going right back to automatic). Comcast seems to think it's
    an xbox issue, so that's why I'm here. Hoping someone can help!

    EDIT: I should note that it's wired, but doesn't work when I use wireless either.

    Hey Tinkamii,

    You can set up a static IP address and manually input DNS settings from your Xbox's network settings.

    To set up a static IP address:

    Settings>Network>Network Settings>Advanced Settings>IP Settings>Manual. When you go into Advanced settings, you will see your Xbox's assigned IP address along with a Subnet Mask and Gateway number. Write those numbers down or take a picture because you will
    need to manually input those when asked. Once you confirm your Xbox now has a static IP address.

    DNS setting changes is also found under Advanced Settings. Select DNS settings>Manual and put 1.1.1.1 for the primary DNS and 1.0.0.1 for the secondary DNS. This is a public DNS server.

    Try that out and let us know the results!

    NEED HELP CONNECTING XBOX 360 SLIM WITH TPLINK TL-WR2543ND

    Set to automatic with no security, it gets IP Address 169.254.103.157 / 255.255.0.0

    and if i configure the IP manually to 192.168.0.25 / 255.255.255.with DNS set to automatic .. it gives DNS error.

    And with IP and DNS both configured manually it gives IP Address error

    Can not manually change DNS addresses.

    If that is an Xbox issue then it is limited to your console as I can change my DNS if I were to choose to. However, they would revert back on a restart of the console.

    maybe your Router has an option to give DNS Servers to wireless clients? Can you check this - and you should be sure that you have the latest Firmware for your Router.

    Maybe it's because you are going offline first?

    There is no need.

    I change DNS regularly and I don't go offline first.

    The settings always stick for me.

    I had same problem but it has fixed now.

    In my case, Xbox One network setting about DNS showed IPv6 address, although I didn't use IPv6 connection.

    I tried to change the DNS address manually in Xbox settings, but it wasn't changed correctly . So I changed my home network rooter settings about DNS from "Auto" to "Manual IP"( dns address provided by your internet provider) .

    Then, backward compatibility was working well, my Xbox 360 profile download started.

    And Btw Visage, you cant use the DNS address of your NIC because its advisable to use manual ip addresses on the Xbox and the Host PC ( You cannot use Automatically assigned IP's because the IP address will change everytime you connect the 3G Modem to the
    internet) so the NIC wont have a DNS address once you've configured the IP addresses manually. The DNS address will be found on the Modem itself . And if anyone would like to know how to check the DNS address of the Modem: In Adapter settings Right click on
    your Modem and in then click on "Status" and then on "Details" the DNS IP's Will be displayed in there.
