Can no longer see MP4 files on PC

When I use the System Video Player on my 360 I used to be able to see/play MP4 files. Not sure what changed, but all of a sudden (as of last week - Oct 31, 2014) I can't see MP4s anymore.

If I rename the files to MP4V or AVI I can see/play them, but this seems dumb to start doing this now.

How can I see them again?

XBOX no longer steams videos from my computer like it used to

hi,

I have an xbox on wifi, I have a windows 7 PC on wifi. 720p video no longer streams (avi files). SD files do stream (.mp4 and avi) - but the loading times are longer than I'm used to. This all started happening after the late november update to the xbox
dashboard. I have friends who also have this issue. Does anyone else know of this issue, or better yet a solution.

Xbox One's Media Player App is complete crap

I can stream mp4's and mkv's on the media player.

1. try renaming the files. sometimes when they're too long they don't show up or won't show up until i rename them.

2. try with wifi instead of hard wired

3. you have to go into network and sharing settings and give the xbox one pemission to to view your pc media library.

4. try different files. go on youtube and download an mp4 and put it on your usb stick and try it.

I've never heard of MKV files. I know if I transfer AVCHD files or from my Sony CX190 camcorder, or MPEG-2 TS files from my Hauppauge Capture software, that those files won't play if I transfer to USB to my Xbox 360 slim console. MP4 is like a widely accepted
format. My Samsung S5 when connected to my PC allows me to convert non-MP4 files into wvs (or what ever it's called) from my PC to my phone will only play MP4 and WVS files.

Though MP4 is claimed to be supported by Xbox 360, sometimes we still run in to difficulties to play MP4 on Xbox 360.

You may try to change the extension name from .mp4 to .wmv but I cannot ensure this action can solve the MP4 playback problem.

If you are still in trouble, you can convert your MP4 files to WMV or MP4.

You can stream video but not all of it. The best reason I can see right now is that the device does not support all media codecs right now. It seems to have even more limited codec support than the 360. I have tested the theory and I've gotten it to run
only MP4 tagged files but not all MP4s (they are encoded differently).
